Bookcases

 

Having woodworking as a hobby, I created this bookcase for myself. Wanting something special, I combined it with my background as a software developer and created software to help design this object. It allows me to create a random looking piece of furniture based on some given parameters, like the dimensions and number of shelves. The software is able to produce an almost infinite number of designs based on the same set of parameters. A sample created by the application can be modified by hand, as to match the customers requirements and taste.

Each bookcases will be different, as each one is created random, even if the parameters are the same. The software is also able to create a 3D view of the design for the customer to see or to use with professional 3D design tools (Collada DAE file format).
